    Taras Luzhnyy is a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy, Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy, and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with a distinguished background in orthopedic rehabilitation, human performance, and elite athletic development. He earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy with distinction from the New York Institute of Technology, where he was honored with the Benjamin Morey Commitment to Excellence Award, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from Hofstra University.

    At NIS Physio, Taras specializes in musculoskeletal and neurologic rehabilitation, post-operative care, injury prevention, performance optimization, and vestibular rehabilitation. His treatment philosophy is rooted in evidence-based practice and tailored to each patient’s individual goals—whether recovering from injury or pursuing peak athletic performance.

    A former professional athlete and member of Ukraine’s national freestyle wrestling team, Taras is a Master of Sport of International Class, with over 17 years of elite training experience. His achievements include a silver medal at the 2010 World University Wrestling Championship in Turin, Italy, a first-place finish at the Ukrainian Student Nationals, and multiple podium finishes at national-level competitions. In the U.S., he competed as a starter for the NCAA Division I Hofstra University wrestling team, earning a bronze medal at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship and contributing to a team championship.

    Taras is also a dedicated mentor and coach, having served as a wrestling official and volunteer coach in both Ukraine and the United States. He has trained youth and collegiate athletes in Olympic-style wrestling and comprehensive strength and conditioning programs.

    In addition to his clinical and athletic accomplishments, Taras is co-author of the peer-reviewed study:

    “The Effect of Joint Hypermobility Syndrome on DOMS and Recovery Time,” published in International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy, Volume 19, Issue 2 (February 2024), pp. 159–165
    In 2025, Taras became a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy after successfully passing the rigorous OCS board examination, further cementing his expertise in advanced orthopedic practice and specialization.
