Minimum Invasive Spine Surgery

Minimally invasive techniques reduce the trauma associated with surgical procedures. This allows patients to recover faster. Patients who choose minimally invasive surgery may experience: shorter recovery, less pain after surgery, and less scarring.

Minimally invasive surgery usually involves making tiny incisions, sometimes no more than a quarter-inch in legnth. This results in less trauma to the body then experienced with an open incision. Through these incisions, instruments along with a tiny camera are inserted allowing the surgeon and staff to view the operation from a flat panel monitor.

Because minimally invasive surgery usually requires only tiny incisions, patients generally return to their normal daily activities much faster than with traditional surgery.

This procedure may not be suitable for every patient. All patients must be evaluated by a physician as to the appropriateness of performing the procedure.

Shockwave (EPAT) Therapy

During EPAT Therapy thousands of tiny acoustic sound waves are painlessly applied to the area of injury.  The application of acoustic waves creates micro-ruptures in the capillaries of the tendon and bone and significantly increase the bodies response to send healing cells to the area. The new cells improve the blood supply and the oxygenation resulting in expedited healing of the injury.  This is the same technology that has been used in recent years to break up Kidney Stones without surgery and is now being applied to those with chronic pain and injuries.

This treatment is performed on an outpatient basis and requires no anesthesia.

Intra-Articular Laser Therapy

It has long been known that laser therapy can stimulate the bodies anti-inflammatory response and promote healing of injured tissue and joints.  Interstitial and Intra-articular Laser Therapy differs from other “laser hype” procedures by being the first medical grade laser to be able penetrate the skin deep enough to reach spinal discs and other joints within the body.  With most “laser” treatments, the laser is only able to penetrate the first few layers of the dermis (skin) and never reaches the affected spinal disc or joint.  With this technique, damaged joints can be irradiated directly, resulting in significantly improved therapeutic results.  This laser treatment is painless and requires no anesthesia.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections

PRP Therapy is an FDA Approved injection procedure that uses the body’s own cells to repair injury and reduce inflammation.  During a PRP Procedure, a small sample of blood is taken from the patient.  This sample is then placed in a centrifuge where the PRP cells are isolated.  Once isolated these naturally restorative cells are then multiplied.   After a sufficient number of cells (in the millions) are captured, the plasma is then reintroduced to the site of injury or pain via injection.  This injection insures the cells are applied directly to the underlying cause of your pain.

NYC Chiropractor Pain Management Treatment Options

What are you looking for in an NYC chiropractor? Probably not someone who alleviates the pain only to ensure that it returns so you will return too.   This chiropractor New York City office is dedicated to not only giving the patient relief from pain, but to determine if there are changes that could be made to help the patient to better overall health.

The variety of treatment options sounds complex, but the ideas behind them are quite simple and when carried out by an expert can offer the patient relief.  Neuromuscular reeducation is simply trying to retrain the relationship between nerves and muscles, especially if that communication has been interrupted or altered by an injury.

Trigger point therapy is a technique that relies on the idea that unexplained pain may be coming from a muscle knot, which doesn’t even need to be near the area of pain.  By find the trigger points, a nyc chiropractor can treat these areas using techniques like deep tissue massage or mechanical vibration.

Stretching is a simple thing that can do wonders for your overall physical health.  You will learn the proper ways to stretch without straining your muscles.  And we will teach you stretches for your specific body needs, because we take individualized care seriously, right down to the type of stretching you do.

Spinal manipulations are the same thing that you might hear referred to as an adjustment.  There are four phases: orientation, preload, thrust, resolution.  By moving through these phases, the doctor will adjust the spine back into its proper position.  This type of therapy can temporarily relieve pain but also shorten acute back pain recovery time.   Joint mobilization is this same concepts applied to a particular synovial joint.

Hopefully this explanation makes our practice seem a little less intimidating.  And of course we do not just have you in for a session and kick you out the door with no clue about what just happened.  You understanding this process and how it affects your body will ultimately help in your recovery.

When you choose a chiropractor New York City,  you shouldn’t accept anything less than the very best.  And the very best is exactly what we offer.
